The Diamond Anniversary Meeting
CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF RACING One of the most significant meetings ever, as the circuit celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Since July 1950, F1 Grand Prix winners, World Champions and all kinds of celebrities have raced here and this weekend’s meeting is a celebration of the people and the cars which have made Castle Combe Circuit so popular. On track, a race for every decade, backed up by a Sunday lunchtime parade of road cars from each era provides nostalgia for all ages. As if that were not enough the weekend also features the MSA British Superkart Championship, Production BMWs, MG Metro Cup, HSCC Guards Trophy and the Castle Combe Anniversary Trophy Race for Historic Sportscars.

Weston–super–Mare Sand Sculpture Festival
Head to the beach at Weston for breathtaking sand art with a ‘Great Britain’ theme this summer. North Somerset Council is hosting its annual sculpture event at Weston–super–Mare for the fifth year running. This year’s festival is all about Great Britain. Visitors will be able to see outstanding sculptures of a variety of things associated with Great Britain – from the legendary and famous to the quirky and eccentric!

The Roman Baths by Torchlight
Relax and enjoy the romantic torchlit ambience of the Great Bath and avoid the crowds by visiting on a summer evening. The site and shop are open until 10.00pm every evening in July and August (last admission 9.00pm). As darkness falls, the ruins of this vast Roman building are an awesome sight. By the light of flickering torches, you can walk on 2000 year old pavements, providing a truly magical atmosphere. With its steaming waters and Roman artefacts this is an unforgettable and unique experience.

Lions of Bath
A giant pride of 100 individually decorated, life–size lion sculptures, will be taking up residence in and around the World Heritage City of Bath from May to October 2010 in a unique cultural event to raise funds for local charities and bring a smile to the faces of residents and visitors alike. The lion sculptures, sponsored by businesses, local communities and individuals, will be decorated by artists and craftspeople using their skill and imagination to produce eye-catching artworks from the beautiful to the bizarre. At the end of the summer all of the lions will be auctioned for charity.

Speedway is a very exciting form of dirt-track racing where stripped-down motorcycles race round an oval track. Most races (known as heats) consist of four riders racing over four laps from a clutch start. They score three points for first place, two points for second place and one point for third place.)

Graham Walker Memorial Run
Approximately 100 veteran and vintage bikes built before 31st December 1930 will be pulling up onto Beaulieu's grounds. There will also be a prize giving ceremony where some of the participants will be presented with silver tankards and goblets. Graham Walker was one of the founders of the Sunbeam MCC in 1924, and was also President of the Club for many years. After he finished racing motorcycles he became Editor of ‘Motorcycling’ and on his retirement from journalism he became the first curator of the then Montagu Motor Museum. A year after his death this event was started in his honour.

The famous Red Arrows will be showcasing their spectacular aerobatic air display against the backdrop of Minehead Bay and will be raising funds for Guide Dogs and the Blind and RNLI The Red Devils’ Parachute team will also be performing. The town will be alive with street entertainment: music; unicyclists; face painters; magicians – something for all the family.

Steam Fayre & Vintage Vehicle Rally
Norton Fitzwarren will echo to the sound of many mighty gleaming steam engines, tractors and road rollers, elegant vintage cars and motorcycles. This is one of the longer–established events on the Vintage Transport Rally. Attractions include:- Working traction engines, tractors and road rollers. Fairground and street organs, horse drawn vehicles section. Vintage cars, motorcycles, fire engines, buses, military and commercial vehicles. Stationary engines, afternoon parades of vehicles. Family fun, children’s entertainment, Morris dancers. Displays, models, railway art, trade stands, craft marquee and stalls. The opening times: 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Southern Day Rally
On 15th August Beaulieu will be hosting the National Southern Day Rally of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club for members, friends and guests. The rally will include arena displays and commentary of Jaguar marques celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Jaguar, static displays of various Jaguar/Daimlers, and general Jaguar parking for the attendees within the events area. There will be static competitions for the Pride and Joy and Concours and a ‘Cars For Sale’ area, as well as Jaguar related traders on the field and in the main marquee with some crafts to attract the lady attendees.
