Choosing Your Wedding Transport

Choosing Your Wedding Transport

Choosing your wedding transport

Firstly congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.  Here’s just a few tips on what to think about in your choice of car or cars for the occasion.

Chauffeured car

  • If neither the Bride (yes they do drive themselves to their wedding!) or Groom want to drive then a Chauffeured vehicle is exactly what you need.
  • The next thing to decide is how many people does it need to transport and how many journeys are required.
  • If the ceremony is s short trip from home (and all the Bridesmaids are at the Brides house) then one car doing one two or even three trips is doable.  Use a bigger vehicle if you need the Bridesmaids to be transported with the Bride – a Campervan might fit the bill! If you plan on taking your entire wedding party from one location to another think about the hire of a Bus – there are several companies offering vintage coaches or old London Route masters.
  • Use a local company based close to your home / venue– the price you are charged will factor in a round trip from and back to the cars base – if you really want that really unusual transport only available from 200 miles away be prepared to pay for it.
  • Does it fit with your theme?  You can hire the more unusual if required – a wedding with an 80’s theme might want a DeLorean (from back to the future) as a Grooms car for example – again be prepared to pay extra for the rarity.
  • How long do you require the car and driver for?  If it’s all day, be reasonable, make sure the Chauffeur is provided with both non-alcoholic refreshments and use of toilet facilities – both will be appreciated.

Self drive classic car hire

  • Do you want a 2 door convertible, coupe or a 4 door saloon?
  • Think about colour – a traditional wedding car is white or cream – it doesn’t exactly show up the dress against the car.  Photographers love red and blue cars they make a great backdrop to accentuate that dress and bouquet.
  • Are you driving or is a relative driving you?
  • Make sure all drivers meet the companies insurers requirements.
  • Will the car accommodate the Bride’s dress?
  • If using a convertible be aware of the Bride’s hairdo – she won’t thank you for being windswept!?
  • Arrange to collect the car THE DAY BEFORE the ceremony – I’ll guarantee that you will not have time on the day!
  • Typically the car is cheaper per day the longer you have it so can you combine the wedding day hire with the use of it on your honeymoon or minimoon?

Whatever vehicle you decide upon BOOK EARLY – We cannot count the number of times we’ve had to turn away a bride or groom because they thought they could leave booking an E-Type or MKII Jaguar to a few weeks before their wedding.  Our cars are used for weddings but also for romantic getaways, birthday drives, short breaks and a multitude of other reasons and so they get booked up quickly.
