Jaguar E-Type
To many the purest of all E–types is the series 1 3.8 although from a practical point of view the series 1 4.2 with its better brakes and seating has many advantages. Cars have developed a lot since the sixties therefore it is not surprising that many owners have upgraded their cars in the interest of safety and comfort. The series 1 3.8 E–type that Vintage Classics has to offer has been updated with the later E-type brakes, gearbox and seats therefore offering the best of all worlds.
The E-type has been subject to a complete restoration by Cleevewood Garage in Bristol. The condition of the car can be described by the following comment:
I recently visited Lacock a well known attraction in Wiltshire. On leaving the car park in the E-type I had to pick my way though a herd of French Students making their way back to their coach. Seeing the E-type obviously caused a lot of commotion, admiring looks and numerous complimentary comments in broken English. The teacher turned around to investigate the commotion, her jaw dropped letting out the word “Wow”.
In any language there is no need to translate the word "Wow" and I think it adequately describes the car although I secretly hope she was referring to the driver.
Where ever you go the E–type is guaranteed to put a smile on peoples faces, they will stop, wave, put their thumbs up and generally appreciate what must be one of the finest engineered cars of all time. As for the driver, the experience of driving a car which is admired by so many is an experience that dreams are made of.
The car is a 2 seater.
